Take Action - Weed with Currimundi Catchment Care Group
Posted on 18th Feb 10.

TreeLine partner, the Currimundi Catchment Care Group has agreed to assist the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to clear the weeds from sections of Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park, at the end of Coongarra Esplanade, Wurtulla. The first weed day will be Wednesday March 3rd from 8am to 11am. Cheryl Thomson, Ranger, will focus on the track's closed section where the boardwalk was removed last year. The initial method of weed control will be with manual removal of the most prominent species of asparagus fern, gloriosa lilly and lantana. QPWS will supply materials including – garbage bags, forks, brush hooks, gloves and morning tea. All volunteers must have hat, sunscreen, enclosed footwear and sun safe clothing. To ensure the group is a manageable size, the preferred limit is 15 to 20 volunteers.  The group will be under the direction of QPWS staff – either Cheryl or Bill Butler. The following weeding day will be March 10th.  Please let Cheryl know at cheryl.thomson@derm.qld.gov.au if you can attend either or both of these days.
