KOLORA MAGIC IN THE OLDEN DAYS AT PALMWOODS STATE SCHOOL
Event date: 1 Jan 2010 - 4 Jul 2010
Participants: Grade 5 - forest Grade 2 - Mabel Grade 4 - Small Piccabeen Grove for background
Community Artist Christine Elcoate has been working with classes from Palmwoods State School to create a Kolora Magic Exhibition. They have been working with recycled products to make the trees and all the interesting fungi and rocks in the display in their Library. Grade 5 were inspired to join in with the TreeLine project after learning about people reading by the light of illuminous fungi in the olden days. They worked in partnership with Grade 2 and Grade 4 to make this magical space which is viewed in the semi darkness to the sounds of the forest. Mabel is reading her book and farmer Bill is thinking about when the next mail might arrive to bring the flour and treacle. They all got a big surprise on how many things could be made by recycling and looking after their environment. Bill and Mabel live in the Piccabeen Grove in the forest. Grade 5 are conducting tours for the other classes until the end of term, during their lunch hour.
