Barry Fitzpatrick and Collaborating Artists
Event date: 29 May 2009 - 4 Jul 2010
Exhibit: Caloundra Regional Gallery, May 26-July 4
Barry has been involved in many environmentally focused art projects, both collaboratively and as a workshop leader, in South East Queensland. Recent commissions include a social history sculpture project for the Kingston Historical Museum and a large public sculpture for the Logan City Council made from recycled metal ballot boxes, and a further commission to produce 20 environment-themed paintings for the new Logan City Council administration building.
Barry has recently developed and curated the Bio-diverse-city project; a collaborative exhibition involving artists, architects, planners and social scientists focusing on future planning.
Bio-diverse-city – The TreeLine Project
Bio-diverse-city is about reconsidering the ways in which we plan our living to meet the environmental and social challenges of the future. The project invites us to re-conceptualise the way we view the natural world and our place in it.
Artists, scientists, designers and planners will collaborate to examine our changing relationship to and appreciation of plant communities, and how this might just lead to planet saving paradigm shifts.
